Question about my surge protector & video-game consoles…?
I have a Wii, Xbox 360 & a PS2 hooked up to my surge protector. I have my surge protector powered down when I’m not playing video games because it turns my video game consoles from stand-by (where the surge protector is on and power lights are on, but the game consoles are turned off), to powered-down (when my surge protector is powered down and the game consoles lights are off). So what I was concerned about is: if turning my surge protector from powered-down, to on (for about 5-10 seconds), then to powered-down again could harm my video game consoles?
If this isn’ coherent I’ll try and explain further.

Turning the surge protector on and off at 5 to 10 second intervals won’t hurt your games per se. But it does add some wear and tear. The voltage regulators are trying to stabilize the voltage and the in rush current is an extra load on the devices. I turn my surge protectors off when I’m not using my electonics, but I don’t recommend turning them on and off at short intervals. Once or twice isn’t a big deal. Just don’t make a habit of it.
