Your ideal gaming/arcade lounge?
A friend & I are in the early process of starting up a kind of hybrid arcade/gaming lounge that would basically be a geek haven. We’re planning on having arcade machines (classic & current), consoles (classic & current), PC LAN & tabletop games as well.
If it’s not too much trouble… if you were in my shoes, what would you include? What types of arcade games & console games would be must haves? What kind of events would be fun? We’re both big gamers and have our own ideas but we’re trying to make sure our idea of a nerd heaven lines up with others’ ideas as well.
If all goes well we hope to get it open early next year!
Definitely have those bean bag chairs, they are so comfy to sit in and play a game. I was recently at a games convention and Xbox had a Forza lounge there where they had 10-15 LCD Screens lined up and xbox consoles all linked up with a bean bag chair for each competitor, i could have stayed there all day. Now not saying you should get 10 LCD screens and xbox’s, they would be pricey lol, but if you can provide the comfort for the gamers and ability to play against their friends, then you should be onto a winner. Having the LAN setup is good too for guys and girls who want to organise a lan party or match but dont have the resources, ie space,networking devices,bandwidth etc etc. I guess what would be cool if you had old skool consoles there to show people, kinda revive the memories of their childhood, instead of them playing them, more like a museum sorta idea. Arcade machines and say pinball machines would be cool as it would fit with the museum kinda idea, but only problem being, they bulky and once they break down, very hard to repair. For events can do the LAN nights but also, Premiere Nights, launch of Starcraft 2 for example. Some ideas there. Hope it all works out, as it sounds like a great idea.
